Choosing an MBA
Last update: 06-28-2011
Considering the multitude of MBA programmes on the market and the stakes involved in taking up such a challenge, how can I recognise a high quality MBA?
- The programme should be based on international standards.
An MBA is an international graduate degree, the contents of which are determined by international standards:
- general training based on strategic decision-making skills
- in-depth study in one of the subjects taught
- structured analysis of the participant's career path
- It should be run by a highly qualified team of instructors
A pedagogical team made up of research professors and professionals with recognised know-how, expertise in the field and significant teaching experience is essential.
- It should be part of a real network, professional networks, alumni networks, French and foreign university networks.
- It should use innovative training tools and pedagogical resources.
It is the responsibility of schools and training organisations not only to be aware but also to be involved in evolutions in the field and to adopt and include these tools in their training programmes.
These tools should not be exceptional, but used everyday in the training process.
- It should have highly diversified groups of participants.
The cultural, geographical, professional and generational diversity of the participants, which is highlighted and used to promote exchange and sharing of ideas and experience, enriches the learning process.
- It should be adapted to the organisational imperatives of the participants.
It is important to consider the context in which the potential candidates are evolving, their imperatives and those of the companies so that the courses can be coordinated with professional obligations. Training is a key to progress and, while developing the employability of the participant, it must also meet the needs of the company.
